LGED in association with Japan based-donor agency.  JICA organized a project launching workshop on 'City Governance Project (CGP)' at LGED headquarters in the city on 23 November 2014.



LGED Chief Engineer Md. Wahidur Rahman chaired the workshop while Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, FCA, MP, was present as the chief guest and Japan Ambassador in Dhaka HE Shiro Sadoshima was as the special guest.



Among others, LGD Senior Secretary Monzur Hossain and JICA Bangladesh Chief Representative Mikio Hataeda were also present at the project launching workshop.



The total cost of the city governance project (CGP) is estimated Taka 2943 crore of which the Bangladesh government will provide Taka 545 crore and JICA will provide the rest amount of Taka 2397 crore.  The money will be spent for development of infrastructures like roads, sewerage and drainage systems and garbage management in Narayanganj, Comilla, Rangpur, Gazipur and Chittagong City Corporations.  The tenure of the project is July 2014 to June 2020.



In the project launching workshop, Mustafa Kamal thanked the Japan government for their cooperation in socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
