The government appointed Mr. Md. Shahidul Hassan as Chief Engineer of LGED w.eJ December 11, 2000. He replaces Mr. Md. Ataullah Bhuiya who has gone on I leave preparatory to retirement. Born in 1951 Mr. Shahidul Hassan was graduated in Civil Engineering in 1975. In 1'977 he joined the Works Programme Wing as Executive Engineer. Mr. Hassan became Superintending Engineer in 1992 and was made Additional Chief Engineer in March, 1999. Mr. Hassan received higher education/training in his professional areas from the U.K. and U.SA Mr. Shahidul Hassan is a widely travelled official which took him to a number, of cities .in Europe, USA and Asia ,for attending seminar / workshop / study/ contract and loan negotiation meetings.

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh and Member of American Society of Civil Engineers, USA.

For his outstanding Contribution in rural infrastructure development, Mr. Shahidul Hassan was awarded Jasim gold medal, 2000: Shreegayan Atish Deepanker gold medal 1999-2000 and Journalist Monazatuddin gold medal 2000.
